The Ruin of Ghosts
"EXORCISING THE GHOSTS" It all started in 2011 after the release of The Thorn Campaign. I wrote “Nevermind”, “A Ghost Without You”, and “Negative Suns”. I began with the concept of negativity and the effects on the self and others. Negative Suns was the title for a long time and I focused on the theme creating a plethora of music. 2013 was a bad year for me, I lost my trusted dog and my mother to dementia and for about a year, I was in a dark non-creative state of mind. Feeling alone and helpless, I started writing again with a different purpose and approach, to shine the light on the ghosts of my negativity and dented self-esteem. 2014 was gearing up to be a better more positive year. I was getting involved in healthier relationships with friends and loved ones, music was flowing and focus on the new album opened new ideas and formats on how to present the new material. At this time, I was scouting photoshoot locations and “ruins” came to mind. With the help of Mark and Christine Knight and Talia Phoenix of Omi Mahina, we found a location. During this time I decided to change the title to “The Ruin Of Ghosts” to reflect the newfound idea of how hauntings and oppression can ruin ones psyche. For those who have waited patiently and supported me over these last 3 years. I say thank you and as a gift from me to you, here is the final product of 3 years of work, all my successes and failures all rolled into one. Enjoy. Jeremiah M.
