Prelude
By its definition, the prelude is an introduction. As my first full length album, Prelude is my way of introducing myself to the music industry. Some of these songs I have been working on since I was eight years old. The recording process was a rigorous and solid two months straight of very intense studio work with a combination of learning new instruments and picking up old ones I had to dust off. As I will explain later, classical music has always been a huge influence in my musical career. As you listen to the album, you will hear it giving direction to what would be classified as a Rock album. The use of cellos, violins, and basses were an important factor in the recording process. Throughout the entire album, I wrote and recorded the parts on every instrument myself with a few exceptions being “Ever After Ends” in which my Mastering Engineer, Collin Vander Ark, played the piano line. Also on three of the songs, my Producer Mae Grossruck sang backup vocals. Mixing this album took eight months. My friends say I’m picky. If I didn’t believe them before, I definitely do now. In some of my blog posts over the first few months after releasing the album I will talk more about the intricacies of the mixing process that went into this album. This is my prelude. The beginning. I hope you’ll track with me through this journey.
