Seasons - Rising: Falling

Seasons - Rising: Falling

David Fonseca reserved for 2012 one of the greatest artistic challenges of his career – to tell a year of his life through his songs. The result is "Seasons", a work divided into two records: "Rising", the first volume, and "Falling", the second. “The challenge is totally new to me and perhaps that why I’m so enthusiastic about the whole project. The idea: a year of personal experiences and observations transformed into songs, a musical portrait of the days that have marked this route in a kind of calendar / a musical diary. A pen on a paper directing a trip without interruptions, limitations, filters or plans, advancing on the calendar. My story told chronologically as an open book during one year" "Seasons - Rising: Falling" is now complete, becoming the fifth album of David Fonseca’s solo career, showing us an artist in his creative peak deepening sonorities that were already present in his later albums though never in a way so striking. If "Seasons - Rising:", the 1st volume, reinforces this idea by integrating into his eclectic musical universe the electronica and the rock, in "Seasons - Falling", David explores, as ever, the songwriting essence, giving us songs of unusual emotionality such as "All That I Wanted", the first single taken from the second part of this musical adventure. Produced by Nelson Carvalho and David Fonseca (who also secured a significant part of the instrumentation), "Seasons - Rising : Falling" has some special appearances: the portuguese Luísa Sobral on "It Shall Pass", the Brazilian Mallu Magalhães on the song "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday " and Catarina Salinas, "Best Youth" lead singer, that joined David on "Heavy Heart". Besides their presence, David also counted with a long list of musicians on the record: his band ( Sérgio Nascimento on the drums, Nuno Simões on the bass, Ricardo Fiel on the guitar and Paulo Pereira and Francisca Cortesão (a.k.a. Minta) on keyboards and choirs); Rui Maia (X-Wife), responsible for some of the keyboard sounds; the piano player Filipe Melo; and Helder Gonçalves (Clã). Also noteworthy is the meeting with Mário Barreiros, exceptional musician, longtime friend and producer of the first two solo albums of David Fonseca, responsible for the drums on "At Your Door" and "Heartbroken".
